Puerto Vallarta is one of the most beautiful destination wedding locations in the world — tropical sunsets, warm ocean air, luxury villas, beach ceremonies, and incredible golden light for photography.
And one of the best parts about getting your bridal spray tan done here in Puerto Vallarta is that your glow is fresh for your actual wedding events and vacation — instead of getting sprayed in a dry climate back home, sitting on an airplane for hours, and arriving with dehydrated skin before the celebrations even begin.
After spray tanning thousands of brides, wedding guests, and vacation clients throughout Puerto Vallarta, Punta Mita, and Sayulita, I've learned that the best bridal tans here are the ones that look natural, healthy, radiant, and effortless in tropical light.
The goal is never to look overly dark or "spray tanned." The goal is glowing skin that photographs beautifully in Puerto Vallarta's natural sunsets and humidity.
2–3 Days Before Your Wedding: Skin Prep Tips
A beautiful bridal tan always starts with healthy, hydrated skin. In the days leading up to your appointment: exfoliate gently and evenly, keep your skin moisturized, drink plenty of water, avoid harsh drying products, and finish waxing or shaving at least 48 hours beforehand.
I also recommend avoiding aerosol sunscreens, alcohol-heavy products, harsh exfoliating body washes, and Dove soap right before your appointment. Cream and mineral-based sunscreens are usually much gentler on the skin and help maintain your spray tan better during your vacation.
Protect Your Skin Before the Wedding
One of the biggest things destination brides need to be careful about before the wedding is protecting their skin from sunburns and uneven tan lines. Puerto Vallarta's UV exposure is much stronger than many visitors expect, especially during long beach days, boat days, or poolside events leading up to the wedding. Even a small burn, bikini line, or unexpected tan line can affect how the spray tan develops and photographs.
I always recommend brides apply sunscreen consistently before wedding events, be mindful of swimsuit tan lines, avoid excessive direct sun exposure close to the wedding day, and keep the skin calm, hydrated, and healthy leading into the appointment. Beautiful bridal tans work best on healthy, balanced skin — and preventing burns or harsh tan lines beforehand makes a huge difference in achieving that soft, even bridal glow.
The Day of Your Spray Tan
On the day of your appointment: avoid showering immediately before I arrive, do not apply lotions, oils, deodorant, or perfume, wear loose dark clothing afterward, and stay cool and comfortable while the tan develops.
I travel directly to your hotel, villa, Airbnb, or bridal suite with my complete professional mobile setup. Most bridal spray tan appointments take approximately 15–20 minutes. I also apply a professional setting powder after your tan to help reduce stickiness, improve comfort in the tropical heat, and help prevent rubbing or smudging while the tan develops.
Why Rapid Spray Tans Work So Well in Puerto Vallarta
Rapid rinse tans are ideal for Puerto Vallarta weddings and tropical vacations. Because it's warmer here, many brides prefer not sleeping overnight in a traditional spray tan. Rapid formulas allow you to rinse sooner while still achieving a beautiful developed glow.
I customize every bridal tan based on your skin tone, desired depth, wedding dress color, photography lighting, and how natural or bronzed you want your final result to look. Most brides tell me: "I just want to look healthy, glowy, and naturally radiant." That's exactly the goal.
During the Development Phase
The first several hours after your spray tan are the most important. Because Puerto Vallarta is warmer and more humid, I always recommend staying cool when possible, relaxing in air conditioning during processing, avoiding excessive sweating, wearing loose clothing, and avoiding anything rubbing tightly against the skin.
And most importantly: avoid pools and ocean water for the first 24 hours after your spray tan. This makes one of the biggest differences in how evenly and how long the tan lasts throughout your wedding events and vacation.
Bridal Spray Tan Tips for Your Wedding Weekend
A few of my biggest bridal recommendations: schedule massages and spa treatments before your spray tan whenever possible, keep your skin moisturized throughout the trip, use tan-safe hydration products after swimming, reapply sunscreen often — Puerto Vallarta's sun is much stronger than most brides are used to — and avoid long hot showers or hot tubs during your wedding weekend.
With the right prep and aftercare, most brides enjoy beautiful color throughout all of their wedding events, dinners, pool days, and celebrations.
Will My Spray Tan Last Through My Wedding Weekend?
Absolutely. With proper prep and aftercare, most brides enjoy 7–10 days of beautiful color, soft even fading, natural-looking warmth, and gorgeous tropical wedding photography. Pool time, ocean water, sun exposure, and long vacation days will naturally shorten the life of any spray tan somewhat — but hydration, proper aftercare, and protecting the skin beforehand make a huge difference. And yes — you should still absolutely enjoy your vacation.
